Module 1 (Theory & Practical) Module 1: Theory This is a 20 hour workshop on a Saturday and Sunday. Module 1 is a fun and resourceful weekend of theory training. This course is open to all people who would like to know how to bring yoga, meditation, heart consciousness and mindfulness to children from ages 3 - 12. Module 1 theory focuses on how to bring yoga, heart and well-being to children and covers these topics:
Why we practice yoga with children.
What makes a children’s yoga teacher successful?
Teaching children values, self-regulation and the ability to change their way of being or state of mind.
How to bring rules and disciplines into your classroom.
Age appropriate discussions on how to teach children and structure classes relevant to the age of a child.
Age appropriate anatomy and physiology.
The emotional developmental stages of children ages 3 – 12.
Exploring the emotional, mental and physical benefits of yoga exercises for children.
Yoga poses and how we can use these to create a dynamic and fun interactive class for children.
Practical examples of meditative and energizing breathing exercises.
Preparing children for Yoga Asana using warm-ups and breathing techniques.
How to teach creatively using story, books, movies, cultures, environments and curriculums as yoga adventures.
Exploring yoga, games, imagination and music and other sensorial props to create fun, dynamic and interesting children’s yoga classes.
Exploring affirmations, meditations and visualizations for children’s yoga classes.
Learning Savasana and how to bring relaxation to children.
Index of books, music, meditations and references for a successful class.
Includes a training manual, yoga postures book and certificate.
Module 1: Practical Part of your Module 1 is based on practical classroom experiences and applied theory. You may commence your Module 1 practical training at any time upon completion of Module 1 weekend theory. This training includes 16 hours of observations in classrooms, studios and at various outreach centers. This is comprised of 10 hours of practical classroom and studio observations and six (6) outreach classes of Seva with the WHOLEy Child Foundation. This practical experience will be monitored as you attend, observe and teach the Yoga4Kids children’s yoga classes. This includes our remedial and special needs classes.
