Module 2 (Theory & Practical) Module 2: Theory This is a 32 hour workshop held over four (4) days. The focus is on how to teach curriculums to children. These curriculums include teaching children how to develop a relationship with self and how to empower the self (mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually). It is here that we create programs for children to maximize their human potential. This study is appropriate for children from the ages of 7 - 13. You will also learn how to encourage children to create or shape their lives in conjunction with the disciplines and observances that are associated with yoga.
Children’s curriculums to be explored in Module 2 are those that will bring about a balance both physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically: These curriculums cover the following areas:
Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga and her disciplines.
The energy centers in the body.
The power of rapport and language in the classroom and with parents and teachers.
Creating children who are not victims but masters of their own destiny. This is established by teaching the discipline of yoga and the balance of mind, body, emotion and prana.
Teaching children about colour and colour therapy.
Physical health and wellbeing.
Bringing an awareness of the chakras and how to teach these and their associated yoga postures to children.
Creating an awareness of the senses for children and the life skill applications associated with those senses.
Teaching children to work together using partner postures.
Teaching self-esteem and self-confidence to children as a workshop.
A practical on children’s yoga alignment using equipment, bolsters, blocks, hoops, sticks and other props.
An intensive group workshop on developing lesson plans.
How to market and develop Yoga Retreats, Workshops and Holiday programs.
Yoga Mudra and Mantra
Journaling and creative visualisations.
More work on heartfulness.
Module 2: Practical Once you’ve completed Module 1 and the above portion of Module 2, the next step is practical-based and requires that you present a homework assignment and two age appropriate lesson plans. You will be asked to teach one of your lesson plans either as part of Module 2 or at one of our outsourced classroom environments. One of the Senior Teachers at Yoga4kids will sit in as an examiner at the presentation of this class if it is at one of our schools or Suzie Manson will adjudicate the class as part of Module 2. You will then be accredited to teach 60 hours of children’s yoga in an environment of your choosing. We can provide suggested pricing for you to charge per child or per class depending on how you choose to complete these hours. Module 2 is an exciting time for you as an instructor as not only are you gaining invaluable hands-on experience, but you are now creating a source of income for yourself. This income will, in all likelihood, actually pay for your participation in the Yoga4Kids Teacher Training (Modules 1 & 2). To give you an idea of the earning potential: 12 hours of teaching (10 children per class once a week) will generate an income for you of approximately R12 000 if you adhere to our suggested fee structures.
