Overview Yoga4Kids has successfully been presenting children’s yoga training programs in South Africa since 2005. Our Teacher Training Modules have inspired and motivated many incredible people to bring yoga, mindfulness and wellbeing to children at home, in the classroom, in therapeutic environments and for non-profit outreach programs. Our training is focused on opening the portal to your inner child so that you are able to heal and remember how to play and work with children on the mat. It is an intensive program that re-ignites your imagination and awakens your creativity.
Modules 1 & 2 cover a very comprehensive 200 hours of Teacher Training. Those hours encompass:
Workshop attendance & participation,
Teaching & observation of prescribed classes,
Doing homework as assigned during each of the modules, and
50 hours of documented teaching with Yoga4Kids Head Office.
Because the completion of these Modules enable you to be accredited to teach yoga to children nationally and internationally (as described on page 1), careful documentation of your training is essential throughout. Yoga4Kids will provide you with these tracking documents and explain how to use them. For example, when teaching or observing classes, you must log the premises, students and times so that we are able to closely monitor your lesson plans, teaching days and level of competence. This careful tracking and evaluation of your training is part of the unique training experience offered by Yoga4Kids.
The Yoga4Kids Teacher Training for children’s yoga is divided as follows:
Beginner: Module 1 is comprised of a 2 day theory week-end and practical training on the floor. This course is open to all people who would like to know how to bring yoga, meditation, heart consciousness and mindfulness to children from ages 2 - 12. This includes 10 hours of practical classroom and studio observations and six (6) outreach classes of Seva at the WHOLEy Child Foundation. This practical experience will be monitored as you attend, observe and teach the Yoga4Kids children’s yoga classes. This includes our remedial and special needs classes. Module 1 practical training also requires you to teach two age-appropriate classes in order for you to be assessed and deemed competent to teach.
Intermediate: Module 2 is a 4 day workshop. The aim of this workshop is focused on how to teach children the art of developing a profound relationship with self both mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is here that we create wellbeing curriculums for children to maximize their human potential. This study is age appropriate from the age of 7 to 13.
In addition to Modules 1 -2, Yoga4Kids has developed these specialty courses to enhance your capacity as a yoga instructor (detailed in Section 3) and entrepreneur.
Advanced: Module 3: Yoga as a Business Model.
Masters: Module 4: YogaTherapy4Kids. This is a four day workshop offering insight on how to use yoga as part of an integrated therapy with other therapists at school and beyond. Module 4 aims to support children with challenges and bring yoga to individual children or small groups who present with similar challenges.
Specialty Course: Pregnancy Yoga. This is a two day workshop with highly accredited Kundalini Teacher Atma O’Meara.
Specialty Course: CalmClassrooms4Kids. This is a three day workshop on how to bring children’s yoga into the classroom. The training is devised as a tool for teachers in a classroom environment using breathing, yoga postures, mindfulness and self-regulation tools to optimize the learning readiness of a child at school.
Your Certification as a Children’s Yoga Instructor
