The Yoga4Kids Vocational Training: Yoga4Children with Challenges is comprised of Modules 1 & 2 which include theoretical and practical training for a total of 95 hours. Modules 1 & 2: Theory This is a combined six days of workshops. This fun and resourceful training focuses on the theory of working with children who present with challenges. This training [presented by Suzie Manson (SYT) and Abigail Friedman Occupational Therapist and Children’s Yoga Teacher] teaches you to bring yoga in a creative way to children who require one-on- one yoga therapy or small group teaching. Areas covered in this specialized training include:
Childhood developmental stages including age appropriate anatomy and physiology. Here we look at the physical/motor, social, cognitive and language development milestones. We explore how to effectively teach yoga to each stage of development.
Definitions of special needs and how these present.
How Yoga benefits children with special needs.
How to prepare a special needs yoga space.
How to teach yoga as a discipline and implementing safe practices in your classroom.
What makes a special needs children’s yoga teacher successful? Here we explore the relationship between you (as a yoga teacher) and school teachers, therapists and/or parents and how to build a comprehensive case study and yoga development program for the individual child.
Creating case studies and building assessments.

Modules 1 & 2: Practical Experience The practical experience will assist you in building a knowledge of special needs and to assess the need or benefit for yoga. The practical experience will cover:
15 hours total must be spent observing children with challenges in either a school, yoga classroom, home or therapeutic environment with consent.
25 hours must be spent building and teaching your own case studies.
