Yoga and mindfulness courses for kids in need

The concept of the WHOLEy Child Foundation began in April 2016, with the goal to bring our yoga, mindfulness and wellbeing programs to compromised children throughout South Africa. The foundation is the non-profit arm of Yoga4Kids and is a dream realised for company owner, Suzie Manson.

The foundation has brought yoga and mindfulness courses for kids  at the Kids Haven Foundation in Benoni and to the Marie Kloppers Orphanage in Houghton. We have also supported children in Cape Town at the Marsh Memorial Children’s Home in Rondebosch, the Heatherdale Children’s Home in Athlone, and the Christine Revell Children’s Home in Athlone.

The foundation typically brings yoga to approximately 40 children, aged 4 – 12 years. These children have been removed from their home situations for various reasons and are now in foster care at the aforementioned centres. The yoga classes take place from 11:00 until 15:00 every Sunday and are run by volunteer Yoga4Kids teacher trainees and graduates.

Ultimately, we are working to bring the Foundation’s presence and the gift of yoga to children across the whole of South Africa. If you share Suzie’s passion for outreach work and want to help children heal through compassion and the powerful practice of yoga for children who need it the most, please get in touch with us.

The Foundation currently runs weekly classes in Cape Town at the Marsh Memorial Children’s Home in Rondebosch, the Heatherdale Children’s Home in Athlone, and the Christine Revell
Children’s Home in Athlone. We are working to bring the Foundation’s presence to Johannesburg shortly and ultimately across the whole of South Africa.

Working around COVID-19

Due to Covid, our outreach centres have been temporarily closed. However, we look forward to re-instating our work soon, to help these children navigate their lives more gracefully, through our yoga and mindfulness courses for kids.
