The YogaTherapy4Kids Advanced Training is comprised of Modules 3.1, 3.2 & 3.3 (which includes theoretical and practical training for a total of 95 hours). Module 3.1 - Yoga as a Therapy Part 1 / 4 Training Days (20 hours online & 10 hours homework offline) This portion of the training will cover:
Purposes of yoga, occupational therapy and yoga therapy
Understanding the human body (exploring the brain, nervous system, sensory system and Chakra system).
How to self-regulate.
Yoga as a practice and how to structure your class for working with children with challenges.
Tools for a successful yoga therapy teacher.
Understanding the various challenges and disabilities you may encounter with the children you work with in this type of yoga including (but not limited to):
a) Physical & medical conditions. b) Chromosomal & genetic conditions. c) Down Syndrome. d) Neuro-Developmental conditions. e) ADHD. f) Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Module 3.2 - Yoga as a Therapy Part 2 / 4 Training Days (20 hours online & 15 hours homework offline) This portion of the training will cover:
How to work as part of the child’s support and therapy teams.
Understanding the different categories of children who have challenges and their associated presentations.
How to teach yoga as a discipline to children with challenges.
How to assess a child and understand their specific yogic needs.
How to analyze postures and explore their physical, mental, emotional, and energetic benefits for children with challenges.
Understanding the therapeutic benefit of breathing exercises and yoga postures as well as the philosophy and teachings of yoga for the child with challenges.
Building personalized yoga lesson plans for bespoke and specific needs.
How to adapt a child’s yoga lesson for the individual child.
Equipping yourself with resources and curricula for special needs classes.
How to identify issues and set yoga goals.
Analysis of every yoga posture.
Mudra and Mantra specific to the challenges facing each child you work with.
Which yoga postures benefit which children's challenges and why.
Module 3.3 - Yoga as a Therapeutic Practice / 4 Training Days (20 hours online & 10 hours homework offline) This portion of the training will cover:
Building sequences, lesson plans and case studies specific for every child.
Looking at the practical components of teaching children with challenges.
Props and restorative interventions.
Adapting your lesson plans to suit one-on-one session, group sessions or parent and child sessions.
